1. Crosspost: Physics Conference Creates Positive Experience for Kassaye, Stapley
From: Bryne Hadnott via http://womeninastronomy.blogspot.com

Sophomore Bezawit Kassaye one day wants to own her own business that integrates the fashion industry with technology, which is why she’s double-majoring in computer science and business administration.

But her interest in another subject led her to an opportunity outside the classroom, as she was one of two College of Idaho students to make presentations at the 2022 Conferences for Undergraduate Women in Physics in January.

“I’ve always loved physics, that’s why I ended up taking the research opportunity,” Kassaye said. “I love physics, I am interested in astronomy, and it integrated computer science with it.”

5. Report on NASA Astrophysics Inclusion Plan Pilot now available
From: Patricia M. Knezek [patricia.m.knezek_at_nasa.gov]

In support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Agency-wide core value of Inclusion, as well as the Science Mission Directorate’s (SMD) objective of increasing the diversity of thought and backgrounds represented across the portfolio, the Astrophysics Division undertook an Inclusion Plan Pilot Program (Pilot Program). The goal of the Pilot Program was to determine if SMD could assess whether proposed Research and Analysis (R&A) investigations would further inclusion and whether such assessments could be factored into future selection decisions. A report on how the pilot was undertaken, the results, and lessons learned is now publicly available at the link below.
